Sumadori-Bar Shibuya

Sumadori-Bar Shibuya is a physical experiential retail venue opened by asahi-group-holdings in Tokyo in 2022. It serves as a flagship execution of the smart-drinking-asahi initiative.

Strategic Purpose

The venue operates as both an inclusive social space and a real-time consumer research and development hub. It is designed to eliminate the social stigma often faced by non-drinkers in traditional bar environments, allowing Asahi to capture a broader share-of-occasion.

A defining feature of the Sumadori-Bar is its menu architecture. It offers over 100 drink options meticulously categorized by precise alcohol-by-volume (ABV) levels:

  • 0.0% ABV
  • 0.5% ABV
  • 3.0% ABV

This structure allows patrons to tailor their consumption exactly to their personal preferences and tolerance, facilitating behaviors like zebra-striping and damp-drinking.

R&D and Data Collection
