TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau)
The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is a bureau of the United States Department of the Treasury. It regulates and collects taxes on trade and imports of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms within the United States.
Under the Federal Alcohol Administration (FAA) Act, the TTB governs beverages containing 0.5% ABV or higher. When beverage conglomerates adopt a multi-beverage-strategy and produce non-alcoholic variants (under 0.5% ABV), jurisdiction shifts to the fda. However, the TTB may still scrutinize non-alcoholic products that mimic alcoholic drinks—such as dealcoholized wine or zero-proof spirits—if their production methods, marketing, or distribution blur the lines of traditional alcohol trade practices.
